Norwegian class today - Cross Country Skiing and Hotdogs!

For our Norwegian class we went for an afternoon of cros country skiing at Nordseter (top of the mountain above Lillehammer).  Then we stopped and built a fire and roasted hotdogs.  Birger our teacher made a ski jump and most of us went down, doing the inevitable...FALLING!

Skiing for Norwegian class, pretty rough!

Spent the afternoon rembering how to cross country ski.  We had to go down this hill we just climbed on the way back.  Ryan was the only one not to fall on the way down.

Chris and Chris, So Hot Right Now!

They were the only ones dancing at Bingo'n for awhile.  The Chris on the left came over to our place with Quinn.  He is from the UK and has a sweet accent.  Our Chris now calls Quinn and his friends "Q-Dogg and the Funky Bunch"

Kenneth is the Coolest!

We were all leaving, and Kenneth was just starting.  He got all dressed up in a 3 piece suit and everything.  We got yelled at alot for not staying out later, but oh well.  They party until 4am here, and we are still not used to going all night long!

World Cup Ski Jumping

We went to watch the World Cup Ski Jump competition at the Olympic Stadium on March 12th.  It was really cool to see, and there were a ton of people there.  You do get really cold though standing in the snow and not moving for 3 hours!

Can you say Joe Dirt?

This guy was almost identical to Joe Dirt.  Kinda scary.  He had the sweet mullet going on, and the headband just added to it.  He might not look totaly like Joe Dirt in the picture here, you just had to be there!

World Cup Ski Jumping at Olympic Stadium

This is the view across the way of Olympic Stadium when the competition was just starting up.  They had a big jumbo-tron so you could watch what it looked like on tv at the same time.  The Norwegians took 1st, 2nd and 4th place so the crowd was going nuts.  I never thought I would be at a Ski Jump competition in Norway in my life, haha

Skydiving Scuba People

This was in Oslo.  Not really sure what the significance was!

State Church of Norway, in Oslo

There was a funeral of some famous person going on when we walked by.  We saw the Prime Minister of Norway getting interviewed outside which was kinda cool.  It would be like seeing the President just out on the sidewalk, which would never happen in the US.

Jewish Scrolls

The sacred scrolls in a Synagogue we visited in Oslo.

Royal Palace in Oslo

This is where the King of Norway lives.  He doesn't have much power though, because all government rulings are made by the Storting (Parliment).  They had royal guards outside who barely move, but then do marching routines every 30 minutes or something like that.

Posing at Falkner Park

Ryan, Dave and I walked around the entire city of Oslo for about 2.5 hours.  We walked through Falker Park which is famous for all the sculptures it has.  In the summer there are alot of water fountains, which would have been cool to see.

Oslo Harbour

Gourgeous view down the entire harbour area of Oslo during our long walk around the city.  The city is decievingly small, and only about 500,000 people live there.

Train Stop

Train break 4 hours in to our trip.  Stopped somewhere in Sweden on the way to Copenhagen for 25 minutes to stretch out and change the train crew.  We spent 8 hours both ways on the train from Oslo to Copenhagen.
